The first batch of low-enriched fuel assembly production for the Polish research reactor "Maria" is made at NCCP

The first production batch of low-enriched fuel assemblies (19.7%) "MR" for the Polish research reactor "Maria" is manufactured at the Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant (part of Rosatom Fuel Company "TVEL"). FAs are accepted by representatives of the National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ, Otwock, Poland) on the territory of PJSC "NCCP".

Until recently, the "Maria" reactor has used French low-enriched fuel. Developed by Russian specialists LEU fuel assembly has higher consumer properties in comparison with the French, which allowed the Russian side to win the tender in 2015 and to sign the contract for the supply of fuel assemblies "MR" in Poland.
Grzegorz Krzysztozek, Director of Nuclear Facilities Operations Department, noted: “Acceptance of serial fuel assemblies consisted of two stages: review of the documentation and direct control of fuel assemblies, including visual inspection, checking the most important geometric dimensions, packing into shipping containers. We are confident that this fuel will work well, as the Polish side knows NCCP for its high reputation as the manufacturer of fuel for research reactors."

As a result of acceptance, the bilateral protocol was signed, which says FAs meet requirements of the contract and are ready for delivery to Poland.
The great interest of the Polish partner to Russian nuclear products is also shown by the fact that in addition to the contract of serial low-enriched fuel assemblies "MR" two more contracts were signed: the delivery targets for the medical use of the reactor "Maria" and the FA for the irradiation of experimental devices.
